DREAMS OF A WINTER NIGHT (2007)
An installation commissioned by English Heritage as part of the Picture House Exhibition at Belsay Hall, Northumberland.
Inspired by the true story of a coming-out party held in the library for daughter of the house Kitty Middleton, the installation in three interconnecting upstairs rooms imagined Kitty’s anticipation and anxieties as, poised on the brink of adulthood, she prepares to “come out” into the world.
Longing for love and romance amongst the fading patterns of the bedroom wallpaper, her childhood fantasies dissolve into a world of social connections, potential husbands and family obligations.
